May Language Arts

During the month of May and the first week in June, students will be reading world mythology. In addition to studying mythology, students will be preparing a final presentation. The presentation is due on May 27 and 28.

May Enriched Language Arts

Our final unit for the year will be reading the classic novel Old Man and the Sea. Students will need to complete assignments and should be prepared for quizzes and tests on the novel. In addition to reading Old Man and the Sea, students will need to complete an editorial blog assignment.

4/15/08 Enriched Language Arts

For the next four weeks, we will be reading the play The Diary of Anne Frank. In addition to reading the play, students will be analyzing the dramatic elements of the play and discussing the story. At the end of the unit, students will take a test, compare the play to a current film, and go on a field trip to see a production of the play. Students should also be working on reading a book outside of class and completing seven journal entries.

March and April Enriched Language Arts

During the last two weeks in March and the first two weeks in April, students will be reading The Pearl and working on a four to five paragraph essay about the novel.

March and April Language Arts

During the last two weeks in March and the first two weeks in April, we will be working on reading novels in literature circles. In addition to reading novels, students should be working on completing a four to five paragraph editorial.

Touching Spirit Bear Reflection

What is the most significant theme from the novel? Explain why it is significant. Read and respond to at least one other classmate. Remember a theme is not a summary of events.
